Congratulations to our tribunal representative who assisted this week’s client with a PIP appeal, Our client was awarded standard rate daily living and mobility, this equates to around £60 a week for care and £23.70 a week for the mobility element , therefore a total award of £83.30 per week.
Our client’s claim was also backdated to 2018 being the date of the claim. Resulting in her receiving a backdated payment of around £13,500.
This is an excellent outcome for our client especially as their appeal had been postponed since 2018 until now.

This week’s client is someone who has been having difficulty with her UC (Universal Credit) application. Our client suffers with mental health issues and anxiety which have been exasperated trying to manage the online journal for UC. The client was informed by UC that she should have been receiving £247.44 per week, however, she was receiving far short of this, without any reason as to why. She contacted our telephone advice line and explained her case to one of our advisors who was able to contact UC on her behalf, request a breakdown of her payment. Shortly afterwards the client received notification that going forward she would receive the full payment.
UC can be a very daunting benefit to navigate and is a good example of how we can assist clients to resolve any issues they are experiencing. So, if you are in similar circumstances, please contact us and we will do our best to help you.

Personal Independence Payments are a non means tested benefit for those with a mental or physical disability, the application process can be very daunting, we can support clients throughout the application process from first application to challenging a decision. This week’s client was disallowed PIP in 2019, from then until 2022 they had received numerous delays in having their appeal heard. They had become very despondent and wanted to cancel their appeal several times, with the support of our appeal representative they kept their appeal going and eventually received a date for appeal which resulted in the client receiving standard rate of daily living and mobility which resulted in a backdated payment of over £12K and a weekly payment of £83.70 going forward.
This is a fantastic and much deserved result for our client and is a good example of how we can assist and support you to challenge decisions.

Unfortunately there are those out there willing to take advantage of peoples generosity and kindness, scamming has been a large problem over the past few years with scammers using anything they can to try and get you to part with your money. Remember never give any information to strangers over the phone, your bank should never text you asking for important details. If you believe you are being scammed hang up right away and use the following channels to report it;
• Email - if you feel unsure about an email you have received, you can forward it to the Suspicious Email Reporting Services at report@phishing.gov.uk
• Website - If you have come across a website which you think is fake, you can report it here - www.ncsc.gov.uk/section/about-this-website/report-scam-website
• Text message - Report suspicious text messages for free to 7726. Your provider can investigate the text and take action if found to be fraudulent.
